2003 Chevrolet AWD Express
I built this rig for true adventure—equipped with all-wheel drive, rugged all-terrain tires, and a paint job designed to shrug off scratches. The double barn doors and expansive windows set it apart, offering unmatched experiences. On a perfect day, there’s nothing better than having both doors wide open by the beach with a cross breeze flowing through. When the rain pours down, it's the perfect spot to hunker down, watching the world through the 360-degree windows. Inside, it's all about convenience and comfort, with an ARB 50L fridge, a MaxxAir fan in the roof, and an Espar diesel heater to keep you cozy. The front passenger seat swivels for added flexibility, and there’s ample storage under the bed for easy access. I’ve insulated every corner where there aren't windows and designed custom curtains for total blackout, making it remarkably stealthy. Over the course of 2.5 months, I took it across the Midwest, camping anywhere from rugged, remote FSRs to the front of luxury homes in California. No matter the environment, this build made each moment unforgettable. The bed is always out, and doubles as a big couch with back rest. And is 40” by 75”. You can extend the bed an extra 17” for two people so it’s, 57”x75” (pretty much a queen). You can cook inside as the stove is under the roof fan. Or use the huge slide out balcony in the rear. Or side tables on the barn doors (I wanted to keep it as modular and versatile as possible)It’s not a 150k sprinter van, but that’s part of the beauty of it. Hoping other people can get some joy out of it when I’m not using it.It has a big agm battery so is able to charge essentially items at night. This also has alternator charging so battery tops up as you drive.
