This is a self built camper van, our family owned adventure rig. Myself, Thomas and my wife Keren. It's simple and comfortable and it's huge so be comfortable driving a big van, it's not hard to drive and handles like a minivan but you got to be comfortable behind the wheel because it's big!! It has a basic kitchen, with a portable gas stove to cook up some eggs and bacon while watching the waves! It has an outdoor cold shower to rinse off after a snorkel. It has a luggable loo for emergencies and a portable toilet. Gotta love a super comfy double bed while camping close to nature, sounds of birds and the waves! Real relaxing... It has lots of storage space for surfboards, kite equipment or sup boards. Cruising in the van is a way to experience a different side of Maui!! No hotels, no tourists, no pools or bars! Just you and nature and the road! Van is solar powered so you are free to go anywhere but if you get caught in rainy weather for days, you will have no power and be roughing it! If you are looking for fancy, or a luxury van, with indoor shower and endless electricity, then this van is not for you. It has provided many adventures for folks from all over the world and we love sharing it! Alternatively, we could leave it sitting on our farm, not used. It has been scratched , dinged, bumped and bruised along the way by adventurers exploring Maui, but it still is a faithful adventure rig with cold ac, tunes, room to stand and a super comfy sleep!! We are not in this to make a buck, it's more to provide good times, keep our van on the road and cover the costs. Please don't rent our van if you want a new van and expect perfection! You can rent our van if you want to have fun, camp, get in the ocean and taste the aloha! You will love it and have the best adventure ever! Maui is heaven!!!
Seriously folk, please do not rent our van if you are concerned about a few dings or the weather!!
The back road around Maui is better suited for 4 wheel vehicles. This vehicle is not permitted on the back side of a Hana road which is known as Kaupo road. You are pretty safe to drive the road to Hana from Paia, as far as kipahulu camp ground and it’s safer to turn around from there and head back to Paia. Equally, caution should be taken on the west Maui road past the blow hole as there are some very tight spots to navigate. Please , absolutely no smoking, you will loose your deposit, yes we will know.Ce qui est inclusWe provide fresh linens with towels. We also provide basic kitchen utensils, pans etc, an electric cooler, a portable toilet, outdoor shower, a couple beach chairs and sun umbrella, along with limited solar power to charge small devices, and have fans and lights.RecommandationsWe recommend that you make advance reservations at camp grounds as parking overnight on the beach is not legal in most cases. You will observe that this rule is ignored widely on the island and if you do choose to do this you will be responsible for any tickets.Autres points à signalerSandy parking can appear hard so to avoid getting stuck, do not park on the sand If you do pull off the road please ensure you are on a hard surface so you don’t get stuck. Yes it has happened.
The van has some quirks that are not serious, the key fobs don't work anymore, and we are waiting for Mercedes to get us new ones. Meanwhile, the door opens using the key. The van has some irrelevant lights on, on the dash, which you can ignore as they are not relevant anymore since it's conversion to a camper. The van is solid and is serviced regularly at Mercedes. I am off island mostly and when I'm on Maui, I'm in my sprinter! Sam, is our on island contact and he will give you check in details and be able to come rescue you if needed!! Cheers Thomas and Keren

We lost electricity fir 2 days: no water, no vent, no fridge, no cells, no lights for two days!,
We need to go the owner to recharge the battery and we were worry the 4 days later,!
The equipment was cheap: the fridge was a small cooler, the stove was attached under and needed to be reattached every use!The beach chairs and beach umbrella was dirty and broken we almost lost the umbrella in the wind because it was impossible to be tight to the pole. The van was embossed a lot.
The was no window to open to get some air!
Stay away of that van!

The van had some issues; leakings, pump not working, brakes were pretty loud but we knew it wouldn’t be a brand new van so for us it wasn’t a big deal. We had it a little late too so that was a little bit of a rough start but altogether we really appreciated our trip! I recommend this van for anyone looking for a great trip and a comfortable stay!

Host was very easy to deal with. I got in late and rented the camper van last minute and he was able to put it outside locked gate and make everything work out perfect for us. Van was great and had everything we needed from a simple shower to an electric fridge/ice chest to keep drinks cold. Great fuel mileage as well. 10/10
