Unfortunately, we did not have the best experience with this camper rental during our weeklong visit to Chesapeake, VA while visiting family. It genuinely felt like the camper was not properly prepped or ready for guests upon arrival. We had requested the camper be filled with water, but it was empty. While filling it ourselves wasn’t a major issue, we quickly discovered a missing drain plug, which caused the water to leak out immediately. The owner did come out that evening to fix the issue, which we appreciated. However, when the water began running through the faucets, it appeared pink in color and produced a lot of foam. Based on this and the explanation that the water had been drained due to freezing concerns, it seemed the camper may have been winterized but not properly de-winterized or prepared for our stay. Because of this, we were uncomfortable using the water system and ended up showering and using facilities elsewhere. There was also very little explanation provided at pickup, and the propane tank for heat was nearly empty. A space heater was provided instead, which worked okay, but this wasn’t ideal given the time of year. We packed according to the listing, which stated that basics such as towels, bedding, and other essentials would be provided. Unfortunately, there were no towels, no kitchen trash can, and no trash bags. The beds only had thin sheets—no blankets or comforters, which are definitely needed in Virginia in December. There was only one standard sleeping pillow; the rest were decorative or couch pillows. The bedding on the bunks also had a strong odor and couldn’t be used. Additionally, there wasn’t a single mirror in the camper, and many of the overhead lights didn’t work due to broken switches—particularly in the kitchen, bathroom, and dining area. By the end of the week, we honestly wished we had spent more on a different camper that was fully functional and truly ready for guests. While the owner did respond to the initial water issue, the overall experience fell short of expectations, especially for a full-week rental.
