1) Cold snaps & winterizing
Early October is usually mild, but Colorado can flip fast. If the forecast shows a hard freeze (around/below 32°F) at your elevation, we’ll need to winterize the van before pickup to protect the plumbing. When winterized, the onboard water system (sink/shower/hot water) isn’t operable—we’ll provide water jugs and simple workarounds.
Important: if the van is taken into freezing temps with the water system active and any part freezes/damages, repairs are the renter’s responsibility under our agreement.2) Mountain passes, traction/chain rules & FWD
The van is front-wheel drive. From Sept 1–May 31, I-70 over the high passes (Eisenhower/Johnson Tunnel & Vail Pass) runs under Colorado’s traction rules. That means you must have M+S/All-Weather or Winter tires with at least 3/16" tread (The van currently has new all weather tires this season), or carry/use chains or an approved traction device when required. During storms, the state can escalate to the Passenger Vehicle Chain Law, which requires chains/approved devices on all passenger vehicles—on a FWD van, that means the front tires. Roadside signs and COtrip org will show when these are active.- No Smoking or vaping

5I highly recommend Gus the Bus. I’m new to the RV world and Brandon did an excellent job showing me how to maximize the use of the RV. He patiently answered all my questions and gave me clear instructions. My wife and 6 and 8 year old grandsons had a great time. We can’t wait to rent Gus next year!

5Gus the Bus was an incredible rig to take out for the weekend with the family. It was a straightforward rig, had a smooth ride, and was just what we were searching for. It had ample room for myself, wife, and 5 year old. The pop top was a major hit with my kiddo, and the bathroom was so clutch to have with a young one. The space was also so great for transporting all of the campsite essentials to the campsite, and then turning the back area into a bedroom while still having space below to store our gear. I could definitely get used to camping in a van like this as you have everything you need at your fingertips. Would definitely recommend this van and I will be renting again next year.
