Although it is part of the Augusta, Georgia metropolitan area, North Augusta sits on the other side of the Georgia-South Carolina state line. The Savannah River divides the two states and cities from one another, and Interstates 20 and 520 run through the metro area operating as the main route in and out of the city.

The area around North Augusta has been continuously inhabited for over three hundred years by those with European origin, and even longer by the indigenous population. The land where North Augusta now lies was once a major trading post that would become one of the region’s best resort/vacation towns by design. North Augusta is practically full of old historic landmarks, and notable buildings like the Hampton Terrace Hotel, which was at one time the largest hotel in the country before it burnt down in 1916. After the hotel burned to the ground, the town's tourism industry began to struggle and decline.

North Augusta has largely reinvented itself into a charming, modern town while retaining the qualities that have made it great since its inception. The town is proud of its location and calls itself “South Carolina’s Riverfront” due to its lovely views of the Savannah River. Its position adjacent to Augusta solidifies its case as an excellent place to both live and visit, so when you book an RV in North Augusta, you’ll soon see why it has become so popular again.

Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, over the river in Georgia, is as good as any place to start off your adventures. This spectacular sanctuary is a birdwatcher’s dream with species like the bald eagle, red-shouldered hawk, and great blue heron on display.

The confluence of Clark Hills Lake and the Savannah River have lots of parks centered around it making for an excellent place to head when you rent an RV. On the South Carolina side, Parksville Recreation Area and Hamilton Branch State Park are two of the best places to visit. Hamilton Branch State Park has lakefront campsites, bicycle and walking trails, playgrounds, and two boat launches for those with watercraft of their own. Baker Creek State Park is further upriver next to Lake Thurmond. This park is great for fishing, mountain biking, or camping at one of its two campgrounds. On the Georgia side of the river, Wildwood Park, Fort Gordon Recreation Area, and Mistletoe State Park give you the opportunity to enjoy the refreshing waters of the lake in different areas. The white sandy beaches are fantastic for sun tanning or going swimming to beat the summer heat.

If you take Interstate 20 west towards Athens, you can visit Oconee National Forest to see one of the most beautiful parts of Georgia.
