Sandy is a fully restored 1963 Airstream Safari, 22 feet in length. Considered mid-sized within the Airstream model line, this one is remarkably flexible, sleeping three individuals, two couples or a family of four in complete comfort. She has one of the most creative and flexible layouts we’ve ever seen in a mid-sized trailer, with a dinette in the front that converts to two twin beds, and a convertible sofa in the middle that converts to a double. She hooks up to campground electricity and water, and has a full bathroom with stand-up shower. (We particularly love the wonderfully preserved dark brown heavy vinyl curtain that pulls tight to provide complete privacy in the bathroom.) She also has a full kitchen with fabulous original vintage appliances, and all original cabinets, hardware and accessories. Her gorgeous dark wood interior has been meticulously restored, with all new curtains, upholstery and floors. We’ve outfitted her with a quiet and discreet AC unit under one of the beds for summer comfort.We thoroughly restored Sandy’s exterior, as well. She’s got a gorgeous shine, and gets thumbs up everywhere she goes. She can be towed by any modern mid- or full-size pickup or SUV, and some larger crossovers. Consult your owner’s manual, and/or with us, to learn more about towing capacity.Rentals come with linens for the convertible and twin beds, pillows and blankets, towels, vintage kitchenware (plates, glasses, flatware), pots and pans, a coffee maker, cleaning supplies, a decently stocked pantry, and a few vintage magazines.We offer the following add-ons for rent on a daily basis. Her original owners had built a custom cabinet with a beach-found sand dollar in a small recessed display nook under a glass top. We found this little detail to be a very poignant reminder of the trailer’s earlier life on the Jersey shore, so in honor of the famous beach resort of Sandy Hook NJ, and the little sand dollar in the cabinet, we called her Sandy.
