Frequently asked questions
Q.
What is a manual transmission?
R.
The short answer is a manual transmission is a stick shift vehicle. Most folks in the US will be very familiar with automatic vehicles, this vehicle is NOT an automatic vehicle. Should you wish to rent this vehicle you should be proficient at operating a stick shift / Manual.
Q.
What are we NOT allowed to do?
R.
When in doubt, ask! Drive as slow as possible and as fast as necessary! Towing is not allowed with this vehicle! Rock crawling is not allowed! Avoid steep ascents and steep descents! Avoid tight narrow trails and tracks! Do not use this vehicle to "rescue" other vehicles or recover other stuck vehicles. No river crossing! Know your limits! Do not drive over tall dry grass!
Q.
What is off-road driving "best practice"?
R.
Even though this vehicle is built tough it can still break and care must be taken! Treat the vehicle as if it were your own! A damaged vehicle due to bad practice will result in you losing your deposit or even worse hurt yourself and your passenger or get stranded in a remote location. Drive smoothly!
Q.
What "recovery gear" is on-board the vehicle?
R.
Because this vehicle is designed for Overlanding and touring recovery gear is not as necessary as if you were on extreme off-road trails and rock climbing. However, there are times when one might get bogged in soft sand or mud. When this happens the best piece of kit (assuming your tire pressures are correct) are the MaxTrax panels provided. Try not to dig yourself out. digging often gets you even more stuck rather try to lift the vehicle with the jack and place rocks underneath the wheels.
