OMG, this rig was great! I had wanted to do the 5 big Utah National Parks for some time, and my Mom decided to join me for this big epic road trip. I came across Liz & Rob's van, and it looked just right for the trip. I normally road trip and just sleep in my car, so I'm use to roughing it. But with my Mom in tow, we needed something that offered more creature comforts, and boy did Epic 01 provide. I'd never driven a rig this big, I have a Subaru Forester that I drive. The Mercedes Sprinter was so easy to get use to, with an excellent turning radius and great backup cameras. We were in the rig for 7 days, 6 nights and picked it up from Liz in Las Vegas. We did a few nights of Boondocking, some nights at RV campgrounds, and a couple nights in hotels. It was nice to have the option to use the potty and shower in the rig, but didn't utilize it much. Because we were traveling in Mid May, the weather was still pretty cool in the Utah and Arizona area so we didn't get super exhausted or sweaty when doing hikes in the National Parks. Our full journey took about 1,400 miles round trip from where we picked up the van. We went from Vegas > Zion NP > Page, AZ > Monument Valley, UT > Needles Canyonlands NP > Moab, UT > Arches NP > Capitol Reef NP > Grand Escalante > Bryce NP back to Vegas. We saw every kind of weather from 35° and snow, to rainbow drives through desert rain storms, and finally 104° and Desert high winds. We summited a mountain at 9600ft, and saw THE best scenic drive I've ever been on between Capital Reef NP, and Bryce NP through Grand Escalante National Monument on Hwy 12. Take that route it will change your life! The Southern Utah/ Northern AZ area is truly what people come to America to see, and this was an Epic way to see it. If you're a little shy and not quite ready for the RV life, the Sprinter Van is the way to go. It fits in normal parking lots, and you can still safely sleep inside. We're both short, under 5ft 6in. And we both were able to sleep in the bed comfortably next to each other on the not quite a queen, not quite a full size bed. It's nice to have a vehicle you can stand up in, and with the screens on the outside, and Liz's handy USB powered fan, we were always sleeping at a comfortable temperature. Is this the cheapest way to travel? No, the cost of gas and the distance we specifically traveled made it not the cheapest vacation, but we were fully prepared for that. Is this more fun than just driving your own car and sleeping in Motels? Absolutely YES! You get the sense of freedom of where you choose to spend your night, cause almost anywhere is available for you to just pull up, and call that home for the evening. Liz was AMAZING at communication. If there was ever a moment we had a question about the Van, she answered us immediately. We did have some user errors on the way with trying to figure out some of the nuance of the rig. Example, trying to get the parking break off or not realizing that the breaker at the RV park had to be flipped to get power to the van. But all simple, easily fixed, and Liz was always a text or a call away to walk us through it. Seriously, Outdoorsy put them on the fast track to Super Host! Loved the journey and memories I made with my Mom, and getting to live that nomadic van life for a week. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
