Had so much fun in the “Rell Sun”! Great experience with my girls.) Drove up the coast and camped in Carpenteria State Beach:) Bill and Diane were so kind and helpful! It had everything we needed to make it comfortable ! We are definitely doing this trip again!

Well...the story began the moment we turned the key on RELL SUNN and proceeded down the PCH to Malibu, then across the desert to Joshua Tree with a final destination of Huntington Beach. RELL is a REAL 1978 VW Vintage Van so expect the "vintage" in her. I didn't mind that there is no power steering, gave us a good workout! Especially while navigating our way through our first stop - the winding drive-through of In & Out Burger! Worth every OMG I won't be able to turn but...I did and got even better at it as the bond continued with RELL SUNN. She starts well in warmer climates and slightly challenging at times but in the end RELL would get us to our destinations in style! Don't expect RELL to go up a mountain like a Porsche...caution lights help to assists during the climb up alerting other drivers we are not in a rush, and yes...the little engine that could played out in this trip. Great experience, challenging experience but overall a beautiful and memorable experience. Bill was super helpful checking us in and giving us the VW101 lessons on how to operate this beauty. Thank you Vintage Surfer Wagons for a memorable trip down memory lane. Who doesn't have a story about a VW van? And if you don't it's never too late to begin.
