2019 Mercedes Metris Pop-Top
Brand new to the market is our Mercedes pop-top and is great for tooling around Maui. This is the weekender version which has back seat that folds down to a large queen size bed and it has a more open feeling compared to the full campers like the VW Vanagon Westfalia. It's easy to drive, looks like a local car, and has all of the nostalgic Westfalia camping experiences with the pop-top that has a small full sized bed, a fold out kitchen table, and a swiveling front seats.We have taken the stock Mercedes pop-top and have added the following:
- 3" memory foam mattress topper for lower bed
- Roof racks to carry surfboards, kayaks, SUP's
- Swivel seat base to the driver and passenger front seat
- 8' x 8' retractable Thule awning
- 50 quart chest style electric refrigerator.
- Fire extinguisher
- Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detector
- Pressurized 7 gallon outdoor solar heated shower
- Stereo with CarPlay and Android Auto
- Tinted the windows for cooler vehicle and great privacy
- 12V and 120V AC electrical system including:
- 200AH Lithium Iron Phosphate house battery
- 2000W pure sine wave inverter
- 12V Vent fan to extract warmer air from inside the van
- Small 12V fan to keep you cool when you sleep at night
- 8 high power USB outlets throughout the vanThese electrical upgrades will allow you to charge your phones, tablets, computers all night long as well as providing lighting and air circulation in the van for some comfortable sleeping at night. This is a huge thing. Sleeping in a van with no moving air gets very stagnant and makes for a bad night sleep. The 2000w inverter provides enough power to power a blender, blow drier, or any appliance you can throw at it and it produces a pure sine wave which will not damage sensitive electronics.We also have everything you might need to go camping.

We'll then sign some paperwork and you're off. This process will take around 20 minutes or so.Once you are finished with your trip, we will meet you back in the same parking lot and check you back in. The airport is a few minutes away and you can once again grab a cab or rideshare for around $10 to get you back to the terminal.If you require to pick-up or drop-off the campervan somewhere other than our office, we will charge you $7 per mile from our address.Some things to note since you are renting out a vehicle:
- All drivers must be 25 years of age or older.
- All drivers will need to sign Campervan Hawaii's Standard Vehicle Rental Agreement.
- We will need a copy of driver'(s) licenses for every driver.
- If you come from outside the US, then we will need a copy of all passports for every driver.Insurance:***** You are 100% responsible for damage done to the exterior and interior of the vehicle. Because of this, we require this vehicle to be insured by you during the rental. There are two options for this:
1) If your personal vehicle has full coverage insurance (and you are from the US or Canada) then most likely, this rental is covered under your own insurance. In this case, you must provide us with a declaration page from your insurance company showing your coverages and proof that your insurance covers this rental vehicle.
2) If you do not have full coverage, live outside the US and Canada, or just want to purchase insurance so you do not have to use your own personal insurance, then we can provide full coverage insurance on the campervan with a $1,050 deductible. The rate is tiered based on the amenities you choose. Pricing is available to see during check-out.Camping:You can pretty much take this campervan anywhere the roads go. The camper van was perfect for our 4 day excursion along the east side of Maui.
The van was super comfortable to sleep in for our family of four- 2 adults and 2
kids ages 8 and 10. Plenty of space for us and our gear.
The electric cooler was the best! No need for ice.
Great gas mileage too!
Communication via text was great and pick up and drop Off was easy.
Highly recommend the van and this company.

Since this was our first trip to Maui we decide we wanted to be able to see and do as much as possible and Outdoorsy provided the answer. The campervan we rented was great, it ran flawlessly, and very easy to drive even on the road to Hana. Beth-Ann and Nate at Outdoorsy were great to work with and both were very accommodating. We would rent from Outdoorsy again in a heartbeat. The attached sunrise photo was taken from the back of the van in Hana.

The van was completely kitted out for an authentic travel camper experience. It was very comfortable and handled great. Although we did not use all the gear, we had a great experience exploring beautiful Maui in this van.
