Rock climbing is allowed in designated areas in the park, mainly the Sentinel Area, Twin Sisters, and Indian Head, as erosion has caused interesting rock formations in these areas. The state park doesn’t maintain any of the rocks, cliffs or natural features, and they’re not responsible for climber safety or protection. The state park is home to a range of trails that can be hiked with ease. For easy hikes, try the northern part of the park’s trails, including the High Point Trail and Aspen Trail. The park’s southern part has tougher trails that are hazardous when raining since they’re very narrow and close to the bluffs. Try Sentinel Trail in good weather, and if you’re up for a tough hike. For good lookout points, make your way to Ozzie’s Point, Louis Point, and Lookout Point. One of the park’s main attractions is the Mississippi River, and boating and fishing are two sought-after activities when camping at Mississippi Palisades State Park. With an abundance of carp, bluegill, crappie, and catfish, angling is fun in this river. There are no restrictions on motor sizes for the boats here, and boat launch ramps are available in the park.
