100 Mile House, a city in the Cariboo Region of British Columbia, was first established during the mid-19th-century gold rush when fortune-seekers made their way north from Lillooet. The town was approximately 100 miles from Lillooet, one of many posts selling supplies. When the gold rush excitement diminished and people moved on, ranchers moved in and took over. A stagecoach located at the north end of town represents the community's history; visitors can have their picture taken with it. A photo of you and your companions with the stagecoach and your 100 Mile House RV rental could be a “before and after” picture of sorts.
The surrounding terrain is a plateau situated between the Coastal Mountains and the Rocky Mountains. It is separated from the Chilcotin Region by the Fraser River. Visitors can arrive by bus or by airplane at private airstrips. There is an airport located in Williams Lake, servicing commercial flights from other cities. Search for an RV in 100 Mile House and you will be following in the footsteps of past explorers, although their transportation wasn't as comfortable as your 100 Mile House motorhome rental. Other nearby cities worth exploring are Williams Lake, Clinton, Ashcroft, Lillooet, and Clearwater. Lillooet is an outdoor mecca, sitting at the foot of the Coastal Mountain Range, and the conjunction of the Fraser River and Seton Lake. Clinton, like 100 Mile House, sits on a plateau near two provincial parks and is a good resource for horseback riding.
