Once out of the St. Louis city limits, a quick ten mile trip towards Alton, Illinois offers a small town feel with another touch of history with the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site. From Alton, driving the RV rental about 15 miles further north will have you meandering along the scenic river road of Highway 100 until you find yourself at the Pere Marquette State Park, a prime spot for hiking, taking in the gorgeous, lush landscape views and even Bald Eagle watching.
