This is a passenger van with 13 seats including the driver's, and a large cargo area in the back without any problems to hold all the passengers' luggage. Perfect for us. The van is clean and runs great. The host is nice and easy-going. Just a reminder, if you don't want to pay a cleaning fee, you'd better wash the outside after use. Also, don't forget to bring your own cell phone holder.

This van ran well and air conditioning was great throughout the van! Perfect way to take 5 or more passengers on a long trip--plenty of leg room and captains chairs are very comfortable! The only things stopped me from rating 5 stars were the exterior(few rust spots) and interior carpet is old and worn. Still, a good deal for only $99/night compared to newer models!

Good trip, especially since it was my first time with and camper van. The RV fit my family of 4 well. The check-in and check-out process was easy, all of my questions were answered and I was well prepared. Everything worked well and it thankfully kept us warm in below freezing temperatures. We had to make do without the attached grey water tank though, so be prepared for that unless it gets fixed. Would rent from him again though, it was overall a good experience.

This was a mixed experience. The Westy4 we rented was a 2005 model. The Mercedes Diesel is a strong reliable beast. But details of the Westphalia conversion showed their age.We were sent on our way with insufficient oil (Red light came on. Oil below the lowest mark on the dipstick). This required an evening detour to find 5W-40 turbodiesel oil in rural Wisconsin on a Monday night. Not easy. After finding the oil at a 24 hour diesel repair shop, the camper drove well and didn't lose additional oil.The hose in the bathroom that serves as both sink and shower was jammed in the shower position. It would not retract making it impossible to use the bathroom sink for the duration of the trip. Inconvenient.A wire was hanging down below the camper behind the right front wheel and would have surely been broken had we not caught the problem. We were able to get a zip-tie and fix it.Visiting the Boundary Waters in late June, mosquito protection is absolutely vital. The screen on the driver-side big window was defective and would not stay latched in position. With the slightest touch it would suddenly retract and flood the camper with mosquitoes. We used a stick to prop it up. Inconvenient. The cooler “fridge” in the van was extremely good and kept food cold running on batteries for days without taxing them. The beds were very comfortable. Storage space was entirely adequate. Interior lighting was wonderful. This camper was entirely suitable for ‘boondocking’ without shore power for days at a time and without need for a noisy generator. We flew to Minnesota from Oregon and couldn't carry bedding or kitchen equipment on the plane. So we rented a bedding kit and a kitchen kit from the owner... at a cost of $100 for each kit. The bedding was entirely adequate. No problem. The kitchen kit consisted of the most pathetic, cheap, inadequate and frankly embarrassing stuff. This was a simple rip-off... avoid this. I shared my feelings about this with the owner who accepted my comment as "Feedback." But he did not feel it necessary to refund my $100.Daniel Van Hofwegen is a very pleasant, very affable, and very helpful person. Before the trip, it was sometimes hard to contact him for days at a time. But during our rental, he was very helpful and immediately responsive by phone and text.We feel that he could have been more helpful with respect to the conditions for return of the camper before an 11 am return time. We didn't know until the day before the rental ended that we would have to professionally clean the vehicle inside and outside and refill the propane and water tanks. He gave us directions to a truck cleaning facility in south Saint Paul... and a propane service in north Minneapolis. Those two places are many miles apart and it was difficult to get to both in a morning. Daniel did not know that no vacuum was available for interior cleaning at the professional truck cleaning facility. What were we to do? This was especially difficult because we were from out of town and had no knowledge of facilities and businesses in Minneapolis.I would be very specific with Daniel about exactly which vehicle you will be getting... and exactly what will be required on return. The video showed a camper with a microwave... the one we rented did not have one. I would check all the systems before you drive away. I would also avoid asking for the kitchen kit. Go to any store and buy what you need... even if you then throw it all away when you leave you will have better equipment and save a lot of money.

Daniel Van Hofwegen rented us a vehicle for a cross country trip through the mountains that was not capable of the trip - the "Westy3". Beware. The vehicles engine lost power in the Colorado mountains (day 4 of a planned 16 day rental) and from that point on operated at low power for the rest of our rental and was otherwise unavailable for use (in the shop) for a total of 8 of the 16 days of our rental and he has not returned prorated rental fees as of November 16th. We eventually deduced that this vehicle was new to him (purchased used) when we rented it, had non-functional features (A/C & generator), and had no license plate (it was registered and he dropped the temporary permit behind the refrigerator). We bent over backwards to assist Daniel in getting the vehicle to repair shops that he selected and endured the stress that comes with being dependent on a vehicle that was not operating properly, wondering if we would be stranded. We ultimately terminated the rental (at his advice) 2 days early as the vehicle was not fixed for our planned return trip.We have avoided posting a negative review (hopefully it will get posted to give a complete picture of this person's business) but feel we have no recourse at this time. While we are pursuing remedy through our credit card provider that is an uncertain process. We would have preferred to work directly with Daniel but he does not return calls or messages. We will take legal action if necessary.FYI, Outdoorsy was of no help as they claim that Daniel is a "dealer" so not under their purview.

Daniel was super helpful and always available. There was a malfunction in the electric on the second night, but with the warmer weather it was fine. All in all it was a great adventure and I recommend it!

Seamless transaction. Unit on great shape, towed easily behind my Chev pickup. Everything work just fine. Generator rental suggested - I used my CPAP without fear of running battery down.
Would rent again from Daniel - great guy and easy to deal with. Scamp unit easy and uncomplicated to use.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience renting from Daniel and Renae. Prior to renting, they were very patient and responsive to my thousand questions. The good stuff:
The trailer is super cute, and Renae has made custom window covers that really keep a lot of light out. Having the side dinette was really convenient. Since it was just the two of us, we were able to keep the larger table set as a bed for the whole trip and use the dinette for food prep/eating/reading/etc.They included everything we needed to get the trailer set up, leveled, and stabilized really quickly at the campsites. They also included some kitchen items, but I had brought my own so didn't end up using theirs.Daniel was really great about showing us how to use all the systems and even let me take video of the more complicated items so we'd know how to do everything right. They also worked with me on the mileage charges (we went over the 100/day) because the last renter apparently hadn't filled the propane tanks and we spent extra money filling both even though we had only used a little bit out of one of them. The not-so-good stuff:
We had an issue with the electrical connection because the listing didn't state that it was a 7-pin connection and our car has a 4-pin. We spent an extra 90 minutes or so driving around trying to find a connector. The listing also didn't mention that the toilet is a sani-potty (must be removed from the camper and dumped into a toilet) rather than the toilet that is built in. We could have saved $10 per night on our campsites if we knew we didn't need the sewer hookups.

We really enjoyed the use of the RV. It drove very well and had no issues handling highway speeds.

Rented the rv from Friday to Monday. Drove 4 hours away. The rv was easy to drive and everything in it worked. It was perfect for two people to stay in. I made the reservation online and the next day Daniel contacted me to see if i have any questions. Picking up and returning the rv was easy.
They were very accommodating and answered all the questions I had. I would definitely recommend renting from them!.
