We had so many problems with this vehicle. My family (Two parents, 4 kids aged 9 to 21 and two large dogs) rented the Travelling Sevens RV from August 24 to September 2, 2024. Upon meeting the hosts, they seemed like nice people and the vehicle appeared suitable for our trip, although we had some concern about the age of it. It turned out the concerns were very well-founded. Our planned route was from Toronto through Quebec, New Brunswick, PEI, Maine and home over 10 days. Following are a list of issues we encountered, which started the very first night.Electrical: there was something wrong with the inverter and even when we were plugged into a 50-amp post at a campground, the batteries still drained and interior lights faded. Every 30 minutes or so we would get loud beeping warning in the cabin that told us the batteries in the vehicle were getting low. So we would have to start the engine to re-juice, even though we were plugged into an external power source. We would go through this every night 3 or 4 times until it was time to sleep and we were no longer trying to use electrical outlets or lights. Also when running strictly off the generator, the electrical receptacles in the cabin did not work.Water: The water pump never worked so if we didn’t have access to city water through a direct camp site hook-up, or if a campground had non-potable water, we were unable to draw fresh water from the on-board tanks. This affected us adversely a few times, one day in particular when several other on-road mechanical issues prevented us from making it to our campground destination for the night; we could have just stayed in a parking lot but without water, or electricity from the outlets, we were forced to rent a motel room.Hydraulics: The one and only time we used the levelling leg system was in PEI, and when it was time to leave that campground, the legs wouldn’t retract/stay retracted. So over the next 3 days I was literally underneath the vehicle on numerous occasions with duct tape, rope, drill, bolts and nuts. I conducted these repairs on the side of a busy highway, at car repair shop in rural New Brunswick and at a gas station in Maine. Just brutal. That malfunction on its own ruined our trip on those days.Fridge: The fridge was temperamental and the power to it would be intermittent, with the “check" light frequently coming on. Power to it randomly flicked between electric to propane to none-at-all. Many times we would open the fridge door and notice the inside light wasn’t on, so we knew it wasn’t getting power. In those instances, we would try rebooting, or starting the vehicle or turning the fridge on and off. After various guesses at a fix, it would usually fire up again, only to have further issues later. And when it was working, it ran too cold. Even when turning the temp control all the way down, it was still freezing produce, cheese, yogurt, butter etc on the top shelf.Exit/Entry Door: This was the icing on a terrible cake. On the last day of our trip, after a Mcdonald’s stop just east of Kingston, ON, we went to take the dogs out and to our shock, the one and only door on the RV would not open. After working fine for 9 days, it was now completely jammed. I removed the inside hardware panel thinking I could manually unlatch the door with my fingers but that did not work. We called roadside assistance to meet us at a gas station in Kingston. The CAA guy, working from the outside, was not able to open it so after 45 minutes we moved on. I feared as we drove down the 401 what if we caught fire as I had recently seen a burning RV on the news. It made for a very nervous 2.5 hour drive. En route from Kingston to Toronto, we were able to arrange for a locksmith (not easy on Labor Day holiday Monday) to meet us at our home in Toronto when we would arrive there at 8 pm. When we met there, he boarded the RV through a window and it him 45 minutes with equipment/drill etc to get the door open.In retrospect, the hosts seemed sympathetic to our plight in back and forth text messages during the trip, rightfully acknowledging that the vehicle was giving us a lot of problems that were not our fault. To my surprise however, when they came to pick up the vehicle, their attitude had totally changed, and they were acting as if everything was our fault and that THEY were the victims! I was shocked. They mentioned the monetary considerations of repairs several times during our interaction at pickup, so it was obvious financial concerns was motivating their changed perspective. Needless to say, choosing this vehicle to rent for our long-anticipated, family trip is a decision I regret dearly, and I would never recommend this RV to anyone! At the time of writing this review, they are holding our security deposit (without merit) and we have filed a "dispute" with Outdoorsy.
