When we arrived we were unable to take the RV due to the size of our vehicle. We understood this to be an oversight on our part and looked locally for a solution (Truck) without any luck. We communicated to the owner that we could not locate a safe transport vehicle with which to come back and get the vehicle and understood that 50% of the reservation fee was to be forfeited. When I tried to cancel the trip on the app it would not allow the cancellation even though the website clearly states that cancellation during this period is allowed(Minus the 50%). I called Outdoorsy multiple times to explain that the app wasn't working and they said they need to get ahold of the owner. Once they did get ahold of the owner(after the original rental period had ended) the owner communicated that we had shown up late and he would not offer any refund. We didn't use the camper at all, slept in our cars and spent way too much of our vacation calling the Outdoorsy call center and trying to communicate with the owner. We didn't stay in the camper but on our walk through could see that it is not in mint condition. After looking at other comparable options I will make sure to rent a newer age camper. I will say that Outdoorsy, after several attempts to solve this did offer to pay the 50% that the RV owner was unwilling to pay. We appreciated that and lesson learned to specify the exact time of pick up, cancellation policy, hitch size needed, and overall condition of the RV. I am not sure I will rent an RV this way through Outdoorsy again. My issue is that, per this experience, if you book an RV that looks good online, and you arrive and it is a mouse hotel, depending on the owner preferences, you may not be able to cancel and make the decision that is best for the renter. My 2 cents.
