S’more Options: Five New Takes on the Campfire Classic

If you love to camp, it almost goes without saying that you probably enjoy making a S’more. What could be more delicious than a roasted marshmallow—especially with melting chocolate and a graham cracker? There are even delicious gluten-free graham crackers out there for our gluten-sensitive and celiac friends.

But if you go camping often, you might be ready to change things up. So, the next time you find yourself sitting under a star-studded sky, try one of these five new takes on the campfire classic.

No. 1: The Nutty Spin S’more

What you’ll need: Graham cracker, marshmallow, and a Reese’s peanut butter cup
How to make it: Substitute a peanut butter cup for your chocolate bar and now you’ve got one of the best flavor combos (chocolate and peanut butter) of all time. An optional variation? Use two peanut butter cups and sandwich the marshmallow between them.

No. 2: Rolo-ver S’more

What you’ll need: Graham cracker, marshmallow, and a mini Rolo
How to make it: Take the flat side of your marshmallow and put the mini Rolo inside of it. Now insert the stick through the round, pillowy side of the marshmallow and through the chocolate center. Once it’s cooked, sandwich the marshmallow with melted Rolo between the graham cracker.

No. 3: Strawberries and Cream S’more

What you’ll need: Graham cracker, marshmallow, slices of strawberry, and a white chocolate bar (my favorite brand is Divine)
How to make it: Prepare the marshmallow as usual. When it’s at your happy roasting state, place it on a graham cracker that already has the strawberry slices and piece of white chocolate in place.

No. 4: Nutella S’more

What you’ll need: Graham cracker, marshmallow, and Nutella (or similar chocolate hazelnut spread)
How to make it: Prepare the marshmallow as usual. Spread a spoon-full of Nutella on both halves of the graham cracker. Sandwich the marshmallow between them.

No. 5: Sweet ‘n’ Spicy S’more

What you’ll need: Graham cracker, marshmallow, dark chocolate (consider one with spice or heat, like this chili dark chocolate bar), optional add-on: pepper jelly or similar jelly with a kick
How to make it: Prepare the marshmallow as usual. (Feel free to substitute a different flavor if you have access to gourmet or homemade marshmallows.) Coat the graham cracker with a little pepper jelly if desired for an extra kick, add the dark chocolate, and layer with the marshmallow and other graham cracker half.

When you’re making a S’more, there is really no wrong way to go.
