This KOA is just 19 short miles from Craters of the Moon National Monument, a spectacular 618 square mile oasis that was created by thousands of years of volcanic eruptions.

These eruptions created a series of unique landscapes that can be explored via the area’s multitude of hiking trails and roadways. 3. Idaho Dunes RV Park

One of the wildest sections of Idaho is its vast desert landscape that features enormous sand dunes that could rival the dunes of Egypt. This area is a haven for dune buggie’rs, sand surfers, and can-am’rs.

6. Teton Valley RV Resort

One of Idaho’s best-kept camping secrets is that the towns of Victor and Driggs are nestled right alongside The Tetons. In fact, you can get spectacular views of the west side of the Teton Range from many points in town.

15. Henry’s Lake State Park

This is one of the best places to camp in Idaho because it offers close proximity to Yellowstone National Park, miles of hiking, biking, and horse riding trails, and access to some of the best fly fishing in the country.

As you nestle into this RV campground in Idaho, don’t be surprised if you see moose, elk, and trumpeter swans trotting through your site. 17. Bill Frome Memorial County Park

As the only county park on our list, this is truly one of the best campgrounds that Idaho has to offer. Camping is free for up to 14 days, and you’ll be a stone’s throw from the Yellowstone ecosystem.

18. Round Lake State Park
