For Phillip and Heather Vickery, one of the best things about renting their RV has been the new friends they’ve made.
“We recently rented to a large group that was traveling together,” Phillip shares when asked to tell us about some of these friends. “They had a great time traveling through the midwest and were great about sharing their memories with us through text and social media. We still communicate today and have actually established connections with others that we didn’t know existed.”
Besides renters, the couple has also made some great connections with other owners, and Outdoorsy has even helped them grow closer to a friend they already had. “Our pastor is another owner and member of the community,” Phillip explains. “He became interested after discussing our enjoyment and success. Otherwise, I stay fairly active on the Facebook owners group and enjoy learning from others and offering constructive advice when I can.”
While these friendships are wonderful, they are not what Phillip and Heather thought they’d get out of purchasing their RV. “Our oldest daughter plays select travel softball. We decided to purchase so that we can travel more comfortably as a family and save money on hotel bills by staying at campgrounds,” says Mr. Vickery. “We actually had no idea that renting our RV was an option when we purchased it!
“I saw an ad on social media that gave stats on how much the average owner actually uses their RV and decided to look further into the opportunity for a way to help pay for our ‘Moach.’ It started out as an idea to help pay for it…and turned into a business in demand!”
Since then, the business has grown to be quite profitable. “We’ve earned over $10,000 in the last 12 months,” they tell us.
Phillip then goes on to explain how they’ve even expanded their fleet: “We recently added a 2007 Starcraft pop-up. We decided on a pop-up because it was an affordable investment that we could quickly gain a return on investment while helping families that either does not need the size of a Class-C or might not be able to afford a more expensive rental. So far it’s been a win!”
The Vickerys have been very happy with their time spent at Outdoorsy, and aren’t too shy to tell us about it. “Outdoorsy policies and contracts have made us feel quite safe renting our RV,” Phil says. “In fact, I’ve had a few customers ask if they can rent from us privately, but the services Outdoorsy provides are of too great a benefit for us not to use it.”
The amazing profits and wonderful benefits offered by Outdoorsy are great, of course, but at the end of the day, the best part is that the Vickerys get to help others and keep making those connections. As Phillip puts it, “I hope our RV helps renters have a great camping experience that they otherwise would not have had.”
We’d say the couple’s camper fleet probably does exactly that!
