Meet Owner Deborah Kane, Founder Of GoCamp

With an enormous fleet and numerous pick-up locations, GoCamp owner Deborah Kane’s whole life seems to revolve around setting people up for great vacations.

“Running GoCamp is a full time endeavor,” Deborah says. “GoCamp’s growing fleet includes Eurovans, Vanagons, Sprinters, Mercedes Metris, Nissan conversion vans, and Honda Elements with CVT tents. We have pickups in Portland, Bend, Boise, San Francisco, and the Los Angeles area.”

From passion to profit

Of course, such dedication often starts with a wealth of passion, and Deborah’s story is no exception.

“I love camping but don’t love schlepping all the camping gear from the garage to the car,” she explains. “I know from direct experience that there is just nothing better than hopping in a fully loaded campervan, hitting the road to somewhere fabulous, and popping the top for a night under the stars with friends or family. Campervans just make it so dang easy.”

Thus, GoCamp was born.

Sharing the love

Although GoCamp started out like so many other RV rental businesses, Deborah’s is a bit different than the competition in that she doesn’t own every van listed on her site. Additionally, she uses her established business to help other owners rent out their vans.

This is an ingenious, awesome concept because it means other campervan owners are able to enjoy the benefits of renting without much of the work that comes along with it.

“On the high end, GoCamp van owners net between $15,000 to $18,000 a year renting their vans on GoCamp” Deborah shares. “We make it possible for van owners to turn driveway downtime into easy income.”

How Outdoorsy helps out

While Deborah is helping other owners get their campervans on the rental market circuit, Outdoorsy is helping Deborah keep the show running behind the scenes.

“We’re ‘pro’ users on Outdoorsy, which means we use Outdoorsy’s fleet management software, Wheelbase,” she says.

“We chose Wheelbase because their reservation software allowed us to get up and running quickly. We’ve gotten great support from Outdoorsy too. We filed two insurance claims recently, and both were handled in a super professional and timely manner.”
